Welcome to Best Shower Heads Reviews! We hope to become your new favorite source for shower head recommendations and reviews. Now that you’ve taken the time to visit this page, we’d love to tell you a bit about who we are, and why you should trust our reviews.

First and foremost, we’re not actually plumbers, and we think that’s to your advantage! When we review fixtures, we’re looking at them as average homeowners like you. So when we say something is easy to install, or reasonably priced, you can be sure that we have an actual buyer’s perspective, not a salesman or installer’s.

We’re home DIYers who started this project less out of passion than desperation. We were all so sick of dealing with crappy, breakable, and ineffective plumbing fixtures-and still more sick of all the bogus review sites which push people to buy them.

We actually found each other online, through blogs and forums where people like us bemoan the current state of plumbing fixtures and appliances. We decided to start a site for homeowners, by homeowners, to be a source of real information and reputable reviews.

We’re here to be a resource for you. If you’re sick of ending up with crappy products online or in big box stores, you’re in the right place! On our site, you’ll learn why chrome is a code word for plastic, why many “eco” shower heads aren’t as efficient as they seem, and how to avoid subpar plumbing in your home.

So, what do we consider a good shower head?

It should feel great, number one. Of course, that means something a bit different to every person. But all of us like a few similar elements, regardless of things like flow pattern. We like steady pressure, consistent coverage across the spray area, and less wasteful mist, so all the water ends up on us rather than the walls. A good shower head is immersive, and whether it’s gentle or strong, it should never feel weak or sluggish.

It should last properly. Nothing makes us more annoyed than a crappy piece of plumbing! Seriously. When did we all become so complacent that we started accepting plastic for everything? Plastic is garbage. It cracks, it leaks, and it both looks and feels chintzy. Here, we have a no-plastic policy. We’ve included a few plastic picks where we had to, for instance with handhelds where you can count the  all-metal options on one hand. And because we know that some people are shopping on a shoestring, we included one  or two affordable plastic options in our guides. All our other recommendations are solid metal. They’ll last for years of use, and they don’t leak.

It should be efficient. The best shower heads make the absolute most of the water that goes through them. They don’t create mist out the sides, and they use clever spray designs to make less water feel like more. In this day and age, wasting water is so much more than morally irresponsible. It’s just plain stupid. The more you use, the more you’ll pay to heat-not to mention the cost in your water utilities. All our recommendations meet or exceed EPA regulations and most of them meet stricter WaterSense and LEED standards, all without compromising on performance.

And we’ve gone to great effort to make sure everything we recommend to you works well without removing flow restrictors or anything of that kind

In our testing, we evaluate:

Spray focus/efficiency

Water usage

Hard water performance

Build quality

Looks/finish resilience

We honestly believe that a shower head is one of the best investments you can make in your well-being. If you don’t believe us, chances are you haven’t experienced a truly great shower!

We hope you love this site, and learn from it while you’re here.
